Hickman Works is new, so this list is short. What’s here is real, and I’m happy to show you any of it in detail.

Coached by Carly

Carly runs women-only personal training, yoga and nutrition coaching from a private studio in Balderton. She’d spent about a year trying to sort out her website, and says she isn’t good with tech.

Before. Her old site had four pages. None had a proper heading or a search description, her prices were stuck inside a picture Google couldn’t read, her yoga classes weren’t on it at all, and “women only” wasn’t mentioned anywhere.

What I did. I started by listening, then checked her prices against local competitors and asked her clients what they wanted. She asked about an app; I told her honestly she didn’t need one yet.

After. Six weeks later she has a thirteen-page site she updates herself from a Google Sheet on her iPad: prices, timetable, offers and reviews, no code. Sign-ups land in her Sheet and her inbox. Everything is in her name, and the only yearly cost of her website is now her domain. If she ever wants someone else to look after it, she hands them one folder.

Get found

Found on Google, properly

  • Every page with its own heading and search description
  • Prices and booking terms as real text, with structured data
  • A Google Business Profile in her name, and Search Console
  • One set of business details, used the same way everywhere
  • Old addresses redirected, so old links still work
Get organised

Run from one Google Sheet

  • Prices, timetable, offers, the notice bar and reviews change on the site without touching code
  • Contact and sign-up forms land in the Sheet and her inbox
  • Tags on every link show where visitors came from
Launch & handover

Ready to use, and hers

  • Her logo redrawn as clean vector files
  • Social posts, link previews, a print flyer and QR codes
  • A local pricing check and a short client survey
  • A ten-page plain-English guide, and time showing her
  • Every account in her name; nothing held by me
  • No website subscription: her only yearly cost is the domain

Timeline: first meeting 26 August, her written brief 29 September, live 8 October 2026.

Before Hickman Works

Sectors I’ve worked in

I’ve built and run systems inside businesses like these, moved them off paper, and trained the people who used them. I don’t name past employers or clients without their say-so.

Fitness & wellbeing

A website the owner updates from a Google Sheet, a Google Business Profile, and a launch kit.

Food production

A Google Sheets system for a micro-bakery: recipes, stock and production planning.

Adventure sport

Media and tracking systems still in use, and an online booking system that replaced paper tickets, with every member of staff trained in about a month.

Warehousing & logistics

A five-year backlog cleared in four weeks, on about two hours a day, single-handed: a whiteboard and sticker-tagging system, and every item moved by hand.

Horticulture & retail

A greenhouse business set up from scratch, covering everything.

Events & community

Volunteer sign-ups, a rota and a live operations dashboard for a 36-hour sporting world record attempt.
